A Raleigh connection + a rescue worth spotlighting

March Shelter of the Month: Triangle Beagle Rescue

Every once in a while, you come across an organization that just sticks with you.

Earlier this year, we were in Raleigh for the 2026 National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) Conference, where we had the chance to briefly connect with members of the Triangle Beagle Rescue team and meet a few of the dogs they are currently fostering or have recently rescued.

Even in that short time, one thing was clear. These dogs are deeply cared for, and the people behind them are all in. That was more than enough for us to know we wanted to spotlight them.

Triangle Beagle Rescue was founded in 1999 by a group of people who saw how often beagles were overlooked in shelters and decided to do something about it. Since then, they have helped more than 4,000 beagles find loving homes, i ncluding 485 in 2025 alone.

They also do things a little differently. Instead of operating out of a traditional shelter, every dog lives in a foster home. That means they are not just waiting to be adopted, they are learning outines, settling into home life, and showing their personalities in a real environment. It makes a huge difference, both for the dogs and for the people who eventually adopt them to ensure they're match with the right forever family.

Thoughtful rescue, powered by volunteers

One of the things we appreciated most about Triangle Beagle Rescue is how intentional they are.

What makes this even more impressive is how they operate.

Triangle Beagle Rescue has zero paid staff and is powered by more than 100 volunteers who handle everything from fostering and transport to interviews and admin work. It is truly a community effort, and every role plays a part in helping these dogs find their next chapter.

Like most rescues, they are also navigating some real challenges. Because they are fully foster-based, their ability to save dogs depends entirely on having enough foster homes available. When there is no foster space, they are forced to turn away dogs in need, which is easily one of the hardest parts of the work.

On top of that, veterinary costs continue to rise, especially for dogs who come in needing immediate care. It is a constant balancing act, and one that many rescues are facing right now.

Still, the reward is worth it. For their team, nothing compares to seeing a dog find their forever family and getting updates as those dogs go on to live happy, full lives.

This month’s Adoptable Tuesday spotlights

We are especially excited about this one.

All month long, our Adoptable Tuesday features have highlighted dogs from Triangle Beagle Rescue, including Boomer, Louie, Autumn, and Duke. And in true rescue fashion, there has already been some good news. Louie and Boomer have been adopted, while Autumn and Duke are still waiting for their perfect match.

Autumn, in particular, has been making quite the impression. She is an absolute sweetheart who has already lost 20 pounds and even has her own Instagram account (@attagirlautumn). Yes, we are obsessed.

We have been sharing their photos here and across our social channels, so if one of these pups caught your eye, head back to our recent posts for more details on how to apply to adopt.

To help give them an extra boost, we are also covering the adoption fee for one of these dogs.

Why this matters to us + how you can help

At PetPocketbook, we spend a lot of time working with pet care businesses, but rescues are such an important part of this ecosystem. They are doing the hands-on work every day, often with limited resources, and their impact reaches far beyond each individual adoption. Supporting rescues like Triangle Beagle Rescue helps strengthen the entire pet care community.

If you are looking for a way to help, fostering is one of the biggest needs right now and has an immediate impact. Donations also go a long way, especially for things like puppy food and pee pads, which are in high demand with multiple litters currently in care. You can check out their Amazon wish list here! Volunteering is another great way to get involved, whether that means helping with phone interviews, supporting events, or assisting behind the scenes.

They also have upcoming events like Beers for Beagles on April 11th, which brings together the community for a fun day with dogs, vendors, and raffles.

And if you are not ready to foster or adopt, even sharing their dogs or engaging with posts helps get them in front of the right people.

From Us to Them

We are really glad we got the chance to connect with Triangle Beagle Rescue, even briefly, and learn more about the work they are doing.

They are thoughtful, committed, and clearly in it for the right reasons.

We are proud to feature them as our March Shelter of the Month and to share their dogs with our community this month.

And if there is one thing their team would want everyone reading this to remember, it is simple. Spay and neuter your pets, and when you are ready to add to your family, consider adopting from a shelter or rescue.
