small business week

May 1-7 is National Small Business Week, a time to honor and celebrate entrepreneurship! Did you know small businesses account for half of America’s workforce, and more new jobs come from small businesses than any other source? Now that’s powerful!

The past couple years have been a challenge for small businesses worldwide. They were hit hard by the pandemic and had to overcome many unforeseen obstacles. Now, with the worst behind us, small businesses can focus on continuing to grow and thrive.

Whether you run a small business or want to support them, here’s a few ways you can celebrate with us!

Shop small & shop local

The best way to support small businesses is to buy products and services through them! When you can, try to shop locally! Gift cards are another great way to show your support and help spread the word about businesses you love.

Did you know?

When you shop local, 68% of your money stays in the local economy, but only 43% of your money stays local when you buy through a chain. Shopping small makes a difference!

Spread the word & show your appreciation

Word of mouth is huge for small businesses. According to Nielsen, people are 4 times more likely to buy from a business when referred by a friend! If you have recently shopped with a small business, you can help spread the word by telling others about your experience.

As a small business, consider building a referral program. Referred customers are 18% more likely to remain your customers. Businesses can create referral programs to incentive customers to spread the word.

Show your appreciation:

Social media is great free way to show support for businesses you love! Like, follow, comment, or leave a recommendation.

Leave a review or testimonial. Reviews are great ways for businesses to build credibility and trust. You can leave reviews on Facebook, Google, Yelp, and other platforms. Testimonials are great for businesses with websites to showcase the customers they have served.
